Mary Fair to be among authors at museum Sunday
The second annual Spring Afternoon with the Authors will feature 10 writers from Carson Valley and surrounding areas this weekend.
At the same event, Mary (Settelmeyer) Fair will sell and sign her new book for the first time.
The book is called “Spinnings: With Words, With Pictures” and is a collection of her newspaper columns, short stories and poetry.
Fair wrote a regular column for the R-C for several years before retiring. She earned first place for the best rural columnist in the Nevada Press Association annual awards for her column.
Spring Afternoon with the Authors will be held Sunday, April 25, 2 to 4 p.m., at the Carson Valley Museum and Cultural Center in Gardnerville.
Authors from Carson Valley will include Jane Lehrman, Alora Knight, Ray Smith, Nancy Miluck, Dave Pearson; from Carson City, Chris Bayer and Charles Convis; from Dayton, Dennis Cassinelli; from Mound House, Norman Hoggatt; and from Woodfords, Calif., Michael Makley.
The authors will be seated at tables in the main gallery of the museum and adjoining rooms so that interested readers can speak individually with them. All the authors’ books will be on sale in the gift shop, and authors will sign copies.
Refreshments will be served.
There will be a drawing for several books, including Grace Dangberg’s “Carson Valley,” Smith’s “Untold Tales of Nevada,” Hoggatt’s “On the Trail of Wyatt Earp” and a framed poem by Knight.
The event is free.
