Despite rumors, the Main Street Event show n’ shine will take place Friday night in Minden.

Instead of the usual three-day car show, last-minute sponsor Mike Schiller decided to do a one-day show and shine open to any car of any year, make or model.

Registration is 4 p.m. Friday on the corner of Esmeralda Avenue and Third Street for $10 per car.

“It’s been over 20 years they’ve been doing this show, and historically Friday night is the funnest part,” Schiller said. “Because there’s no trophies, any car you want to bring is welcome. If you’ve got a car and want to show it off, come on down.”

In past years Bryan McGill of Capital Classic Productions has put on the show, but for unknown reasons he called the Town of Minden and cancelled last week

“I imagine I’m going to have a lot of guys showing up expecting a three-day show,” Schiller said.

There will be live music, and restaurants along Esmeralda will be open for business.
