Main Street Event appeals to women, too
The Valley Cruisers Main Street Event is not just for guys.
So says Joyce Castleberry, a member of the car club, who will be working along with other members of the group to make sure people enjoy the annual celebration.
“Ladies, come out to the Valley Cruisers Main sTreet Event this weekend,” she said. “Friday night, you will be able to see old vehicles lied up on both sides of Esmeralda in downtown Minden. We have the street closed so you can wander up and down for a closeup look at the old cars.”
Friday, a chicken or steak barbecue for $10 per person will be held 5 to 8 p.m. and a street dance for free with Stevie and the Sting Rays begins at 6 p.m.
At Lampe Park on Saturday there will be a pancake breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. at a cost $3.50 for adults and $1.50 for kids, and lunch will be available for purchase. Some 250 cars will be on display in the park and raffle prizes will be awarded. Raffle tickets are $1 each.
On Sunday, another pancake breakfast will be offered at Lampe Park and trophies will be awarded to the classic, restored, custom and special interest vehicles dating before 1969 in the “show and shine” competition.
Judging and raffle drawings will be held 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., At 4 p.m., “Cruisin’ Main Street” will begin.
DJ Chuck Baldauskas will offer Time Warp music from 10 and until 4 p.m. The big raffle item, a slot machine, will be awarded at noon.
