January 31, 2011
A bookkeeper for a Stateline company is scheduled to be arraigned in Douglas County District Court this morning on charges of embezzling $21,000 by writing checks to her boyfriend.
Marlo Weatherbee, 45, is a convicted embezzler, having stolen $400,000 from a Minden company over a nine-year period. She admitted her guilt and was sentenced to a suspended six-year prison sentence. She served a year in jail and was ordered to pay $1,000 restitution.
This latest case came to light in June when the company she worked for discovered she’d issued 19 checks to a man, Weatherbee reportedly said was a professional bowler being sponsored by the company.
