Woman indicted in child’s rape in Douglas custody
A Los Angeles woman indicted in connection with the recording of the rape of a 3-year-old girl is in Douglas County custody.
Umi Hongo, 25, was transported from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office Jail on Tuesday, facing four counts of principal to sexual assault of a child under 14 years of age and one count related to child pornography.
If convicted, each child sexual assault charge carries a punishment of life imprisonment with parole eligibility after 35 years, and the child pornography charge carries a punishment of life imprisonment with parole eligibility after 10 years.
The case has been assigned to Department One of the Ninth Judicial District Court.
Hongo and Indian Hills resident Ciro Camacho III, 35, were indicted in August 2017 by the Douglas County Grand Jury in connection with the April 13, 2017, incident.
Camacho received three consecutive life sentences last month after he admitted to recording the sexual assault on his cell phone.
Hongo was booked in lieu of $500,000.
She has been in custody in Los Angeles for most of the year, including spending five months in Patton State Hospital, a forensic psychiatric facility in San Bernardino.
Camacho was able to avoid federal child pornography charges in the case as part of an agreement with the state.
