Woman helicopted to Reno in Gardnerville accident
On Monday, a South Lake Tahoe woman was helicoptered to Renown Regional Medical Center when she pulled out into the path of a semi.
Joanne Shope, 78, was pulling out of the parking lot of the Riverview 7-Eleven turning left onto Highway 395 at about 2:10 p.m., according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
A Bonanza Produce truck driven by Sparks resident John Ashworth was southbound on Highway 395 with a green light when he spotted Shope’s Suzuki sport utility vehicle stopped in his path. Ashworth stepped on the brakes, but was not able to avoid striking the side of the Suzuki and spinning it around.
Ashworth was taken to Carson Valley Medical Center with minor injuries.
Highway 395 was closed for about two hours by the accident.
