WNCC Douglas opens Monday
Construction of Western Nevada Community College’s Douglas Campus is finally complete and will be open for classes beginning Monday Sept. 15.
Although WNCC held its grand opening more than two weeks ago, Bently Hall wasn’t quite ready. All construction is now complete, and workers are spending this week moving in furniture and setting up the facility, said Anne Hansen, WNCC’s public information director.
Bently Hall will hold about 50 classes, which are currently being taught at the Mountain View Professional Building and Douglas High School. About five classes will remain at the high school becaue the courses require facilities Bently Hall doesn’t have such as a photo lab and welding shop.
About 600 students are attending the Douglas camputs this term. Hanson said she doesn’t anticipate any problems with the transition to the WNCC campus.
