Wind, rain arrives with storm
A 55-mph wind gust was clocked at near Genoa at 9:40 a.m. Friday as a wet storm rolled into Western Nevada.
High winds scoured the Valley, knocking down tree branches, one of which hit a Genoa resident’s pickup, damaging the hood.
Rain fell in the Valley on Friday afternoon, with .06 inches falling at the Desert Research Institute gauge just south of Genoa Lane.
More wind and rain are forecast for Carson Valley on Saturday as an atmospheric river arrives over the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
A break in the weather is being forecast for tonight through Saturday evening.
On Friday morning more than 1,000 southern Douglas County residents were without power due to high winds.
By 3 p.m., that number was down to 28 due to equipment failure.
