Wheeler backs Nelson for county commissioner
Nevada Assemblyman Jim Wheeler announced he is endorsing County Commission District 1 candidate Dave Nelson.
“Dave’s fiscal experience when combined with his in-depth knowledge of county affairs make him an ideal candidate,” Wheeler said.
Wheeler made the announcement at a gathering of 70 people at Hamdog’s Restaurant in Gardnerville, according to Nelson’s campaign manager Jan Muzzy.
“I am proud to support a man who has a servant’s heart, perseverance, and is working hard to clean up the political landscape at the local and state level,” said Committee Chairwoman Muzzy in her introduction of the candidate.
Both Nelson and his wife, Jeanne Shizuru, spoke at the gathering.
This is Nelson’s second run for county commissioner. In 2008, he was defeated by county commissioner Greg Lynn. Lynn has not formerly announced he’s running for re-election.
