With more than 5 inches of snow falling in Heavenly Valley, and another 4 inches in Horse Meadow behind Jobs Peak, this weekend’s atmospheric river brought much needed moisture to Western Nevada.

Minden received .76 inches of rain over the weekend, according to the National Weather Service. A gauge north of Genoa recorded 3.05 inches near the base of the Carson Range.

A big rock rolled out onto Highway 395 a mile south of the state line in the southbound lanes at about 3 a.m. Chain controls were in effect from Silver to Red Lake Creek and from Kirkwood to Red Lake on Highway 88, according to the California Highway Patrol.
