Volunteers practice man-tracking skills

Staff Reports

Douglas County Search and Rescue Unit volunteers conducted a day of man-tracking in the East Valley area of Douglas County on Sunday.

Members are honing their skills in searching for people lost on foot in austere back-country areas.

Sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Jim Halsey said the event is part of a training regimen conducted by DCSAR in their qualification for membership in the Mountain Rescue Association.

The internationally recognized search and rescue organization is known for superior skills and expertise in back-country and wilderness search and rescue, Halsey said.
