Visualizing a goal makes it easier to achieve
We all set goals. From the time we start kindergarten we set goals on a regular basis. We have educational goals, financial goals, physical goals, career goals etc. Goals are a healthy way to stay focused and move forward in life.
A deterrent to goal setting is after the initial excitement and motivation has worn off we tend to begin to doubt our success. Maybe we hit our first challenge and it just became difficult to continue on this new path toward our goal. This happens to all of us. This doubt comes in the form of negative thoughts which then get vocalized. Now, we are working against our goal.
There is a very simple practice that can enhance your goal making and success. It is the practice of visualization. Seeing, in your minds eye, an image or movie of your goals being achieved will greatly influence the outcome.
During this practice of visualization it’s important to attempt to see your goal come to fruition with great detail. Imagine how you will feel when this happens. Feel the feelings, allow yourself to smile and be excited about it. Maybe your goal has the smell of success or the scent of a bed of roses. If so, smell it — drink it in. Taste the sweet flavor or victory that you will experience when you have accepted this goal into your life. The point is to involve all your senses in the process.
The more you can spend time in visualization the more powerful the energy around your goal becomes. You are sending a direct message that this goal is yours. The last piece is to say thank you for this goal becoming a reality and to feel a deep sense of gratitude as if you already have your goal met.
