Pastor Pete Nelson of Carson Valley United Methodist Church was named Person of the Year by the Carson Valley 20-30 Club on Saturday.

Nelson is retiring this year after 31 years.

The Nevada native arrived in Carson Valley July 1, 1983, to take up his ministry. His 25th anniversary was recognized by Douglas County commissioners.

The announcement was made at the annual Carson Valley Days Parade on Saturday.

The parade featured 70 entries this year and ran about 90 minutes long.
