Upper Truckee restoration hearing postponed
Discussion of the Upper Truckee River restoration and golf course reconfiguration project by the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency governing board scheduled for Dec. 15 has been postponed indefinitely, the agency announced on Monday.
“The Governing Board agenda for December is filled to capacity,” said TRPA Public Information Officer Kristi Boosman. “In addition, there is critical work going on in committee meetings right now that the Board needs to focus on in order to continue forward momentum with the regional plan update.”
No new date has been selected yet for the Upper Truckee River restoration and golf course reconfiguration hearing. The Upper Truckee River project was also taken off the agenda for the Dec. 7 TRPA Advisory Planning Commission. Information and documentation on the final governing board and advisory planning commission agendas will be posted one week before the meeting dates at trpa.org.
The Washoe Meadows community recently filed a lawsuit against the California State Parks Commission and the California Department of Parks and Recreation alleging violations of the California Environmental Quality Act.
“We need to evaluate the Washoe Meadow community’s lawsuit,” Boosman stated. “However, TRPA continues to believe litigation is not the best path to achieving Basinwide sustainability goals of protecting our environment, strengthening our economy, and building strong communities.”
