Units respond to wildland fire along West Fork of Carson River
July 6, 2012
Firefighters quickly combated a brush fire along the West Fork of the Carson River near the Nevada/California state line Friday morning.
Reports of a column of smoke came in at about 9:25 a.m. Friday. The fire was located near Westside Lane, which lies within the ranch country off Highway 88 in the southwestern corner of Carson Valley.
Initial reports from the scene described the fire as moving quickly along the river in moderate fuels. Two brush trucks and one water tender were called out, but firefighters soon reported that the blaze was under control and thus called off additional units.
