Two sought in connection with South Lake shooting
One man is in custody and two others are being sought in a possible exchange of gunfire between pedestrians and a vehicle that occurred last month in the area of Bonanza and B Street in South Lake Tahoe.
Cesar Caro, 19, was arrested early Friday when the South Lake Tahoe Police SWAT Team served the arrest and search warrant at his residence located in the area of Glenwood and Fairway. During the search of the residence officers found evidence of gang affiliation but no firearms were recovered. Caro was booked into the El Dorado County Jail on a charge of attempted murder with bail set at $150,000.00.
Police searched the homes of two other men, Jahem Barton, 19, and Jamal Darrion Coffer, 21, but it appears both men fled the area, officials said.
A felony arrest warrant has been issued for Barton who is wanted on charges of participating in a criminal street gang and street gang member carrying a concealed firearm. Coffer is wanted for questioning.
The incident occurred on June 27, when officers arrived at the scene to find that there had been an exchange of gunfire fire between a pedestrian and the occupant of a vehicle which was driving past him. It does not appear that anyone was injured in the incident and no one sought treatment for gunshot wounds at local hospitals.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Barton and Coffer should call the South Lake Tahoe Police Department at 542-6100 or Secret Witness at 541-6800.
