Two more graduate from Guitars for Vets
In early August, the Gardnerville chapter of Guitars for Vets (G4V) had two more graduates of our 10-week program. AJ Reshaw, Jr., studied with instructor John Nikakis, while Russ Noragon was taught by Bruce Theriot. Both students expanded their playing skills and they look forward to continuing their musical journey.
“AJ showed a lot of progress in just 10 weeks, and I hope he had as much fun as I did helping him explore and discover what can be done with a guitar,” said Nikakis.
“Russ was already an intermediate player when he came to us, and he made significant progress toward enhancing his improvisation skills,” said Theriot.
“Guitars for Vets is a 501(c)3 organization that brings the healing power of music to veterans who are referred to us through the VA health care system,” said Gardnerville chapter coordinator Gary B. Swift. “We are currently down to two instructors, and it would be nice if we could add a couple more to spread the load,” he added. “John and I will be at the first annual Leadership Douglas County Volunteer Expo on Thursday, Aug. 22. So if you’re interested in meeting us, you’re invited to stop by our table at the Community & Senior Center Dining Room between 3:30 and 7 p.m.”
