Two deputies graduate from POST Academy

Sheriff Ron Pierini is proud to announce the recent graduation of two Douglas County Sheriff's deputies from the State of Nevada Peace Officer Standards and Training Law Enforcement Academy.

Deputies Maciej Stebel and Spencer McLaughlin graduated from the academy Thursday after attending the academy for four months. The academy is located at the State of Nevada Stewart Training Facility in Carson City.

During the academy, cadets are instructed in such topics as federal, state and local laws, laws of search and seizure, laws of arrest, community oriented policing, physical fitness, use of force, defensive tactics, handcuffing and searching, interpersonal communication, interview and interrogation, crime scene processing, domestic battery investigation, report writing, dispatch and radio procedure, traffic enforcement, traffic accident investigation, emergency vehicle operations, first aid and lifesaving procedures and a host of other law enforcement and public safety topics.

Stebel has been employed with the Sheriff's Office since May 2016, and Deputy McLaughlin has been employed with the Sheriff's Office since June 2017. Both have been working in the jail division since their employment with the Sheriff's Office. With their successful completion of the academy, they will now transfer to the patrol division.
