Twins’ pot grow lands mom in jail
A 47-year-old Carson City woman was jailed on $6,274 bail Monday after deputies investigating a domestic battery allegedly found marijuana grows in her twin sons’ bedroom closets.
Corinne J. Mitchell is to appear in East Fork Justice Court this morning. She was being held in Douglas County Jail on allegations of domestic battery, contributing to the delinquency of minors and possession of a controlled substance.
Officers responded to a home in the 1300 block of Aylesbury Court to investigate a 911 hang-up. They could hear a man and woman arguing inside the residence.
The Gardnerville home owner said he and Mitchell were divorced and had been arguing over child and alcohol issues. They are the parents of 17-year-old twin boys who live with their father. Mitchell said she stays at the home during the week to babysit a grandchild.
As the couple was filling out statements, Mitchell went into her son’s bedroom for her glasses. She opened a closet door revealing an 18-inch tall marijuana plant. His brother admitted he had a plant in his closet, too.
The boys also revealed shop lights in the garage which they said they planned to use to expand their grow operation.
Mitchell reportedly told the officer it was her sons’ second grow operation.
While she was being booked, Mitchell reportedly volunteered she had a glass pipe in her purse which she used to smoke methamphetamine.
Information about the twins was turned over to the Juvenile Probation Office.
