TRPA forced to shutdown website again
The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency’s website is down for the second time in less than two months, after first being taken offline in early February in response to a suspected security breach.
It is unclear whether the website’s current issues stemmed from a new security breach or are a lingering effect from the incident last month, TRPA spokesman Tom Lotshaw said.
Nevertheless, the agency has launched a new temporary webpage under the same address, http://www.trpa.org, so the public can access meeting materials while a solution is found.
On Thursday, malware warnings were raised when users attempted to access the agency’s public website, which is powered by WordPress and contains only public information. TRPA has since taken that site offline and has begun the time-consuming process of scanning everything on it.
Lotshaw said the agency apologizes for any inconvenience the technical issues might have and thanks the public for its patience. In the meantime, he encouraged those who need documentation to call the TRPA at 775-588-4547.
