A fire in a travel trailer that threatened a residential propane tank closed Fish Springs Road on Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters and deputies responded to the 2:15 p.m. fire call in the 2100 block of road, according to Sheriff’s Sgt. Pat Brooks.

Residents were evacuated by sheriff’s deputies, while East Fork firefighters extinguished the fire that destroyed a 24-foot travel trailer and was threatening the propane tank.

The safety valve kept the tank from exploding. An outbuilding on the property was also destroyed, but there was only minor damage to the home. No one was injured in the fire.

Three engines, three water tankers, two ambulances and a squad responded from East Fork Fire District.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

“East Fork Fire wants to remind anyone who has a fireplace to properly dispose their ashes,” Brooks said. “Place your ashes in a metal container and drowned the ashes to prevent flare-ups.”
