National Trails Day is June 3
Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park and the Tahoe Rim Trail Association are co-hosting a celebration of trails 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on National Trails Day on June 3.
The event will include: educational booths, talks relating to the outdoors, free gear demos, workshops, raffles and pictures with the TRTA mascot, McLeod the Marmot. Sample backpacker’s cuisine, participate in stove demos, pack shakedowns and water sugar pine seedlings. Test your rock shaping skills, fix a flat tire, read a map and more.
As part of the celebration, a park ranger will be leading a two-mile guided hike around Spooner Lake. Bring water and wear sturdy boots. Visit http://www.tahoerimtrail.org for more information about the festival.
Spooner Lake State Park is located a quarter-of-a-mile north of Highway 50 on State Route 28 in Glenbrook.
Entry fees to the park are waived for the event.
