Topaz meth bust nets six

An early morning methamphetamine bust Thursday on Granite Way in the Topaz Ranch Estates resulted in the arrest of six people. A three-week-old child was turned over to the Nevada Division of Family Services.

Mathew Cushman Sr., at 64, was the eldest. The Topaz resident was charged with three felonies for trafficking a controlled substance, sales of a controlled substance and conspiracy to violate the uniformed controlled substances act. His bail was set at $50,000.

Also from the area was Suzanne Fritsch, 34, who was arrested on a felony charge of being under the influence of a controlled substance. Her bail was set at $30,000. Additionally, Ernie Ottowa, from Topaz was arrested on a probation violation. He must appear before a judge before bailing out.

Also arrested was James Robinson, 26, of Smith Valley for possession of drug paraphernalia. His bail is not listed. Mona Robinson, 44, of Walker, Calif., was charged with child endangerment and being under the influence of a controlled substance, both felonies. Her bail was set at $25,000.

The mother of the infant, April Robinson-Ryburn, 24, also from Walker, was arrested for child endangerment and being under the influence of a controlled substance.

The arrests concluded an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking at the home, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriffs and police departments from Mono County and Mammoth Lakes, Calif., and Carson City, Lyon County and Storey County participated in the investigation.

Mathew Louis Cushman Jr., 23, from Topaz is still wanted for trafficking, sales and conspiracy, all felonies. He is described as 5-foot-10-inches tall and about 210 pounds in weight. He has brown hair and blue eyes. A $50,000 warrant is out for his arrest. Anyone with information about Cushman’s location is asked to call the sheriff’s office at (775) 782-9905.

The Douglas County District Attorney’s Office is in the process of seizing Cushman Sr.’s mobile home and property, according to the sheriff’s report.
