The RC Morning Report for Sept. 9

There was an earthquake up at Glenbrook 5:44 p.m. Sunday that measured a magnitude 1.7, according to the Nevada Seismological Lab.

It’s clear as a bell out this morning, with air quality through the night in the good to moderate range. Winds overnight out of pretty much any direction but the southwest scrubbed most of the smoke out of the Valley. That will continue to be the weather pattern through Wednesday.

But don’t go thinking the Rim fire is out, because it’s still actively burning on three fronts, including toward Yosemite Valley, where firefighters are trying to hold it north of Highway 120. Containment is still more than a week away, and parts of that fire will still be burning when the rains come.

It will be warmer today with the high hitting 87 degrees. Expect sunny skies, and thanks to a 5-10 mph northeast wind a pretty clear day.
