The RC Morning Report for Sept. 16
A review hearing is this morning for a 20-year-old TRE man who allegedly stabbed his great-grandfather in the neck on April 15. The battery charge carries a punishment of up to 15 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. The elderly enhancement is punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
We had a couple of small fires in the mountains over the weekend. Firefighters responded to a single tree fire Burnside Lake 11:25 a.m. Sunday. On Saturday evening, lightning caused a fire near Sierra Spirit Ranch, which was reported 6:26 p.m. The fire was out by 9 p.m.
Tioga Pass Road reopened through Yosemite on Saturday, but there’ll be no stopping through there since firefighters are still working on the Rim fire. Sunday was the last night firefighters worked the night shift on the fire, which is 84 percent contained.
We’ve got a fire weather watch coming Tuesday afternoon through evening as a cold front rolls through the area. Expect gusty winds and low humidity through the afternoon and into the evening. Today will be mostly clear with a high temperature of 85 degrees and a southwest wind 5-15 mph.
