Busy weekend

It’s going to be a big weekend starting off with a busy Friday night. Douglas High School graduation is 5:30 p.m. today. The first Minden concert is at 6:30 p.m., but I bet chairs waiting for the performance are already starting to pop up. On Saturday and Sunday the annual Kids Fishing Derby is at Lampe Park while the Minden Spring Craft Fair will be taking over Esmeralda Avenue. They say Memorial Day is the beginning of summer, but this first weekend in June starts our summer here.

Buses go back to the barn

Graduation means that school’s out in Carson Valley for the summer, so today will be the last we see of those big yellow school buses for a while. Watch out for children around the parks and other attractions.

Warmer weekends

Weather for the weekend will be a lot warmer than it was for Memorial Day and we’ll see a lot more of the sun. Expect mostly clear skies and a high temperature of 80 degrees today. That will be cool compared to Saturday when the high is forecast to hit the upper 80s, and stay there for a week.
