There’s a cold north wind blowing through Carson Valley this morning that’s going to send temperatures dropping below freezing early Thursday morning. Might be a good idea to give the tomatoes a good water tonight and then cover them until morning. Low temperatures will be back up above freezing on Friday morning and then through the weekend.

The Lampe Park Farmers Market opens for the season 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. today, so if you’re tomatoes freeze, here’s another source.

The Carson Valley Job Opportunity Fair is 2-6 p.m. today at the St. Gall Pastoral Center, 1343 Centerville Lane, in Gardnerville.

Democracy series

Shelby’s Book Shoppe will be starting the series on democracy today with retired Douglas High government teacher and former school board member Randy Green. The store’s located in Minden Village.

It’s going to be chilly

Expect the high temperature today to barely crack 60 under sunny skies, with a northwest wind 10-15 mph. The wind will die back a little tonight and shift to the west.
