The RC Morning Report for March 15

Ides of March

Unemployment in Douglas County saw an increase in January, according to figures released this morning by the state. The county posted an 11. 8 percent jobless rate up from 10.9 percent in December. The total number of employed workers was 18,400 in January, up 200 from December, but the number of people collecting unemployment was also up from 2,220 to 2,450.

Lots going on

The Carson Valley Arts Council’s hosting the murder mystery “The Irish Eyes Murder,” tonight at the Carson Valley Inn while across the Valley the Tahoe-Douglas Elks are honoring a fire department and paramedic appreciation dinner. These and other weekend events are in today’s edition of The Record-Courier.

Still warm

We’re looking at a high temperature above 70 today, but it will cool down a little bit over the weekend to the more seasonable 60s. We’ll be way below the record high for today, which was 82 degrees set in 1994. There’s a chance of rain and snow next week if the high pressure clears out.
