The RC Morning Report for June 4
Another farmers market
Another Wednesday morning farmers market in town is up for discussion at the Gardnerville Town Board today. This market would be located at Heritage Park and would require closing Slaughterhouse Lane and part of Ezell during the event. The Lampe Park Farmers Market is also on Wednesday mornings. Town board members meet 4:30 p.m. today at the town offices.
Genoa Town Board members will discuss the possibility of rezoning residential property in town from single family residential to a zoning that more accurately reflects the parcel sizes in town, which are often smaller than an acre. Also before the board is a proposed dedication date for the downtown improvements of July 25. Genoans meet at 6:30 p.m. in the town hall.
Lightning season coming
A report of smoke in the Twin Lakes area may signal the beginning of lightning strikes for the season. The report came in at 5:54 p.m. and was accompanied by some pretty dark clouds. I don’t think it qualified as a proper wildfire, but we’re getting warmer. There’s a possibility of thunderstorms over the Sierra through Thursday.
We’re expecting a heat wave
When I say warmer, I mean hotter. The National Weather Service is predicting the possibility of record highs over the next week starting on Thursday. While high pressure will keep the thunderstorms away, it will crank the thermostat up to nearly 100 in some Nevada valleys. Expect highs in the upper 90s during Carson Valley Days weekend.
