The RC Morning Report for Aug. 15
County commissioners will discuss combining the three Tahoe water systems, including Cave Rock, Skyland and Zephyr Water, hiring the Tahoe-Douglas District to maintain and operate the systems and figuring out where to get the $14 million in future capital needs. If commissioners agree, the county would come back with water rates for 2015-19. Commissioners meet 1:30 p.m. in the Tahoe Transportation Center in Stateline.
Highway Patrol troopers responded to a minor accident at 7:05 a.m. at 682 Kingsbury Grade in Stateline. We had a couple of minor rear-end accidents on Wednesday, one at Johnson Lane and 395 and the other at Grant Drive and 395. Neither required anyone to be transported.
It’s hazy in the Valley this morning, but I’ve seen worse. The American fire is still burning west of Tahoe, having grown to 3,950 acres on Wednesday. Firefighters hope to have it contained by Saturday.
Expect sunny skies with temperatures in the low 90s. We’ll have a proper zephyr pick up in the afternoon out of the southwest 5-15 mph, gusting to 25 mph. It will be breezier again tonight, with the wind shifting out of the west.
