Accident near Monitor Pass
I’ll be following up on a report of a vehicle over the edge of Highway 89 on the way to Monitor Pass. The California Highway Patrol never called it a fatal, but it sounded like rescuers had to rope down to get to the vehicle. That’s all pretty fuzzy, so we’ll see if we can bring it into focus as the day wears on.
First hay cutting
Carson Valley ranchers are cutting the first crop of hay around the Valley. Some outfits have already baled and shipped the hay off to market.
King fire out
The King fire was declared out at 7 p.m. Thursday and most of the fire apparatus should be off Kingsbury this morning.
Flags at half-staff for Vucanovich
Nevada flags are at half staff by order of Gov. Brian Sandoval in recognition of Nevada’s first congresswoman, Rep. Barbara F. Vucanovich, who died on Monday at age 91. They are scheduled to go back up at sundown today, according to Sandoval’s executive order.
Sunny this weekend
The weather will be sunny with a high near 76, and a breeze out of the east 5-10 mph. The weekend will see a slight warm-up to 80, under sunny skies, but it will remain a bit breezy.
