Genoa, Nev. — Nevada's second Main Street Program got a boost on Wednesday when Minden Town Board members voted to pay the $90,000 pledged six months ago, less money the program's already spent. They also agreed to lease the second-floor conference room to the program. The first big event is Oct. 17 downtown.
Retired surveyor Paul Pace will be the speaker at tonight's lecture for The Great Reconnaissance, John C. Fremont's tour through the Sierra in which pretty much everything ended up being named after Kit Carson. Pace wrote "No Rivers to the Sea," about the early exploration of the Great Basin. The lecture starts at 7 p.m. in the Carson Valley Cultural Center & Museum.
Expect mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-80s today. The wind will shift from south to northeast at 5 mph this afternoon.
