The R-C Morning Report for Oct. 26
Genoa, Nev. — A Carson City man whose marijuana grow operation knocked out the power to his apartment building is scheduled to be sentenced for drug trafficking in Douglas County District Court this morning. Dennis Walter Myers, 61, faces the possibility of up to a dozen years in prison at sentencing today, but the recommendation is for 3-8 years.
It’s Halloween week, which the Douglas County Public Library is kicking off in Minden with a costume content 5 p.m. today. The bloodmobile will be at Pulse Gym on Mahogany 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. today. Make an appointment at http://www.bloodhero.com.
The Nevada Day holiday in Friday, and no matter what your friends in Carson City say, we’re trick or treating on Saturday. Also the time change is Sunday, so you can enjoy that extra hour of sleep after a hard night extorting candy from the neighbors.
It’s below freezing down by the river, but I’ve got 36 degrees on the west side bench, and with the inversion, it’s at 46 degrees in Fish Springs.
Expect sunny skies with a high temperature near 71, with the wind picking up out of the southwest at 5-15 mph. There’s a chance of rain starting Tuesday night and running through Thursday, which will mostly cool things down a bit.
