The R-C Morning Report for Oct. 24
Genoa, Nev. — According to the Clerk-Treasurer’s web site, 1,138 people turned out on Saturday for the first day of early voting. That’s not quite as many as the 1,266 who’ve turned in early ballots. That’s 8 percent of Douglas County’s active voters who’ve already cast a ballot. If history holds, half the electorate will cast a ballot early or absentee by the time Election Day rolls around.
Early voting continues today at the Douglas County Courthouse. Bring your sample ballot if you’ve got one, or visit govotedouglas.com to download one.
If you don’t see buses today, it’s because school’s out for the first October weeklong holiday in the new Douglas County calendar. Watch out for children walking near the pool, movie theater and parks.
If you haven’t gotten the word, or a Sunday paper, The R-C has moved out of its main office and into one of the back ones for remodeling. Go ahead around the back. We’ll be open 9 a.m. there.
It looks like we might get a little weather this morning. There’s a chance of scattered showers this morning under mostly cloudy skies and a high temperature of 65 degrees. It will be breezy with winds 20-25 mph with gusts of up to 45 mph.
