The R-C Morning Report for Oct. 22
October 24, 2015
Gardnerville, Nev. — There's a new sheriff in town, at least when it comes to being a liaison with Douglas County Neighborhood Watches. Sheriff's Sgt. Pat Brooks introduced Citizens Patrol's Tom Martel to three-dozen Saratoga Springs residents attending a watch meeting on Wednesday night with Sheriff Ron Pierini.
With a book entitled "Deadbeat Dams," it shouldn't be a surprise that author and former Bureau of Reclamation commissioner Dan Beard isn't particularly a fan. About 30 folks turned out to watch the movie "Damnation" at the CVIC Hall in Minden.
I had a chat with a Johnson Lane resident on Wednesday, who said the debris is getting particularly bad on public land above Johnson Lane. He said the latest edition is a washer that was dumped and subsequently used for target practice.
If you've still got hoses and plants out, it might be time to wrap up for the season. The low tonight is forecast to drop to 29 degrees in Minden. If you want to cover the plants, there's at least a week of above freezing temperatures coming.
Today's supposed to be partly sunny with a high temperature near 67 degrees. Expect the wind to be calm, picking up out of the northeast at 5 mph in the afternoon.
