The R-C Morning Report for Oct. 19
Genoa, Nev. — Alleged Chichester Burglar Christopher Bernal is scheduled to be sentenced this morning in Douglas County District Court. Bernal, 22, is accused of breaking into several houses in the neighborhood last spring before he was captured.
As soon as we learn of any credible efforts to help the four Hounsell children, we’ll get that information out. I suspect both South Lake Tahoe Police and LifePoint Church are probably working on that.
The state is mustering forces in response to an industrial fire at U.S. Ecology south of Beatty. The company processes hazardous and radioactive waste, according to Las Vegas news sources. The fire broke out on Sunday afternoon.
There’s a flu clinic up at Kahle Community Center 8 a.m. to noon today. The shot callers are back down in the Valley on Thursday afternoon at the Gardnerville Ranchos Fire Station.
I got .6 inches of rain in the gauge over the weekend, which is well over the average .34 for October. For some reason, the Weather Service is showing Minden got 8.24 inches over the weekend. I suspect that reading is a glitch.
Expect sunny skies today with a high near 60 degrees. The wind will be calm becoming northwest at 5 mph in the afternoon.
