The R-C Morning Report for Oct. 19
Genoa, Nev. — There was a 1.3 magnitude earthquake just west of Leviathan Peak south of Gardnerville 4:55 a.m. today. No report of damage, and I doubt anyone was close enough to feel it.
A big rock landed square across Highway 120 on the way to Tioga Pass, closing the western entrance to Yosemite National Park. Sonora Pass remains closed, as well, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Containment of the 2,291-acre Little Valley Fire is expected this evening. An infrared flight over the fire showed there weren’t any heat signatures and the press was escorted around the fire on Tuesday afternoon.
Expect sunny skies with a high near 61 degrees today, and the wind out of the east increasing to 5-10 mph later this morning.
