The R-C Morning Report for Oct. 14
Genoa, Nev. — East Fork firefighters are headed up to the 750-acre Little Valley fire in Washoe Valley that started burning 2:25 a.m. today. According to the Nevada Division of Forestry, that’s where they were conducting a controlled burn on Tuesday.
The Nevada Highway Patrol is reporting both Interstate 580 and 395 are closed in Washoe Valley due to a brush fire. The road was closed at 4:20 a.m. and will remain closed while they fight the fire.
I’ve also been told there was a fire up at South Lake Tahoe that prompted evacuations near Emerald Bay early this morning.
There are more than 10,000 NV Energy customers without out power in Washoe County in nearly two dozen separate outages. There aren’t any reported in Douglas County, but there’s plenty of time for that yet. East Fork is sending someone to check on a downed cable line at 395 and Pinto.
The red flag warning for today remains in effect through 11 a.m. The high wind warning through 5 p.m. We’ll be seeing high winds through the day today, with a chance of rain between 11 a.m. and 4 p..m.
