The R-C Morning Report for Oct. 12

Genoa, Nev. — A proposal for 2,900 homes has been withdrawn by Park Cattle. A more specific plan for development will return before the county. In a letter to Mimi Moss, they said they would file again in 2017.

County Manager Larry Werner will be on The R-C Running Commentary 10:30 a.m. today. Send your questions to by then.

The smoke just poured into Carson Valley on Tuesday, including a 300-acre burn in Big Meadow just west of Sorensons. Expect more controlled burns today ahead of the weekend’s storm.

A request for the White House Bed & Breakfast for a special events permit was pulled until next month before the planning commission.

We might see some rain from this impending storm, but we’ll definitely get wind. Expect the wind to pick up on Thursday night and again on Saturday night. We’ll have a fire weather watch to go with it.

For today expect partly sunny skies and light breezes with a high temperature of 73 degrees. And probably more smoke.
