The R-C Morning Report for Oct. 11
October 11, 2016
Genoa, Nev. — Kingsbury Middle School's buyer is seeking an extension on a deal from Douglas County School Board trustees while working on revising the area plan for proposed development on the site. School board trustees meet 3:30 p.m. today at the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority, 169 Highway 50 in Stateline.
The White House Bed & Breakfast in Genoa is seeking to become a special events venue at today's Planning Commission meeting. Under the application, there would be a maximum of two-dozen events during the year with at most 100 people at each. The Planning Commission meets 1 p.m. today at the historic Douglas County Courthouse.
If you mail in your voter registration today you should be able to make the deadline. Or you could go online at any point over the next week, which seems a lot easier to me. Go to https://nvsos.gov/sosvoterservices/Registration/step1.aspx to check that out.
There's a storm coming that just might bring some moisture to Western Nevada. According to the National Weather Service, a two-part Pacific storm with some oomph to it will roll in starting Thursday morning. The second part is expected to arrive Saturday evening.
That means it's going to be windy on Thursday night, with southwest winds 20-30 mph, gusting to 60 mph, with 70 mph gusts in the foothills and windprone areas.
So today I looked out the window, and it appears that we will indeed see some sun. Expect a high of 75 and the wind out of the west at 5-10 mph.
