Genoa, Nev. — A Gardnerville man could go to prison today in Douglas County District Court after admitting to a charge of assault with a deadly weapon in connection with an August domestic battery. Bernard Pickard, 47, faces up to six years in prison, but could also receive probation today.
It’s Election Day eve so expect a lot of last minute politicking. If you’ve already voted, good job. Early voting is over, but the clerk’s office will be taking absentee ballots up until 7 p.m. Tuesday, when the polls close.
Our press time is 6 p.m. on Tuesday. I’ve been able to go later, but never so late as to get anything but early and absentee ballots results in the paper. We’ll be working the web on Tuesday night to bring results as we get them, but the newspaper might actually be on people’s doorsteps in some instances before the results are complete.
Our dry November appears it will extend into the future with partly sunny skies and a high near 67 today. No moisture on the horizon this week,
