The R-C Morning Report for Nov. 4
Genoa, Nev. — Authorities have enough to contend with in Stateline this New Year’s Eve weekend without having a Snowglobe-related event until 2 a.m. Douglas County commissioners decided. The county rejected a request to have the SnowGlobe Late Night Event Dec. 29-31 at the Hard Rock.
More than half of Douglas County’s active registered voters have cast a ballot so far in this election. According to the Clerk’s Office that means 13,061 residents voted early and 2,757 voted absentee.
Thursday was the second busiest early voting day so far this season with 1,356 Douglas residents casting a ballot. A similar turnout today and a couple of good absentee ballot turnouts and the clerk’s office could hit its 60 percent goal.
I’m certainly not ready for the holidays, but the Douglas County Historical Society is helping people prepare with a hands-on decorating demonstration at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center 10 a.m. to noon today.
So far, November has been as dry as October was wet. Expect mostly sunny skies and a high temperature near 64 degrees. That’s pretty much the forecast for the next week, too.
