Genoa, Nev. — A request for a sales tax increase may appear on the November ballot to fund $7.7 million to $12.29 million in repairs for the Douglas County School District. Members of a committee have met eight times are scheduled to make their final decision 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the district office on Mono Avenue. School Board Trustees will hear an update on the committee at their 3:30 p.m. meeting at the Airport Training Center, 1126 Airport Road.
Douglas County planning commissioners will discuss a request to construct a 4,988-square-foot church and 737-square-foot fellowship hall on a 1.28-acre residential parcel located at Riverview and Dresslerville in the Gardnerville Ranchos. Great Life Church purchased the property in June 2015. Planning commissioners meet 1 p.m. today at the Douglas County Courthouse, 1616 Eighth St., in Minden.
A Gardnerville man is up for sentencing this morning on a charge of felony coercion in connection with a July fight with his girlfriend. Trysten Duzan, 19, faces a maximum sentence of 12-72 months in prison on the charge.
Monday’s storm clearly had trouble making it over the Sierra, with Heavenly reporting only a few inches of snow, while Sugar Bowl and Boreal each reported 33 inches over the same period.
Today’s forecast is for partly sunny skies and a high of 51 degrees. The wind will be out of the west at 5-10 mph. Forecasters are predicting some weather over the next couple of days
