The R-C Morning Report for March 7
March 7, 2016
Genoa, Nev. — Filing for elected office begins this morning at the Douglas County Clerk-Treasurer's offices in Minden and Stateline. Filing continues during business hours over the next two weeks.
A Gardnerville man accused of stealing a vehicle is scheduled to appear in Douglas County District Court for arraignment today. Bobby J. Tresner, 53, was arrested Jan. 4 after being found wandering in his pajama bottoms.
There was a 1.5 magnitude earthquake just south of Markleeville in the mountains east of Pleasant Valley in Alpine County.
Chains or snow tires are being required over Spooner Summit, and on the west side of the Lake. Chains or four-wheel drive are being required on Interstate 80, and over highways 50 and 88 across the Sierra.
For some reason, that winter weather advisory is still up for Carson Valley through 10 a.m. The last forecast discussion suggested precipitation could spill over into Western Nevada by 10 a.m. The road temperature on Highway 395 is 40 degrees, so any snow that falls on it this morning will melt.
Will snow fall today? Maybe. But unless it gets quite a bit cooler over the next two hours, it won't be sticking. Expect today's high temperature to hit 43 degrees. It will be windy at 15-25 mph, with gusts of up to 35 mph.
