Genoa, Nev. — Chains or snow tires are required on Highway 395 from Jake's Hill to just north of Holbrook Junction and south of Coleville. Highway 88 also has chain controls from Diamond Valley Road west to Silver Lake.
The National Weather Service is warning motorists to be careful of black ice, according to a special weather statement issued this morning. While major highways are generally dry, side roads could be slick and icy. Forecasters suggest leaving extra time to get where you're going.
While we got only trace amounts of snow, Reno broke the record for the biggest March 28 snowfall with 6.8 inches and tied for third biggest late season single day snowfall.
For Carson Valley, today will look a lot like Monday with scattered snow showers and partly sunny skies. The high should hit 47 degrees, with winds out of the north at 5-10 mph.
