The R-C Morning Report for March 22

Genoa, Nev. — Chains or snow tires are being required over Kingsbury Grade, Spooner Summit and all around Lake Tahoe this morning. If you’re going to Reno, Washoe Valley also has chain controls, and high winds. All three passes over the Sierra are requiring chains or four-wheel drive.

A 51 mph wind gust recorded at the Fish Springs Volunteer Fire Department at 5:33 p.m. seems like the peak gust in Carson Valley on Monday afternoon. There was a 49 mph gust at Minden-Tahoe Airport at 4:15 p.m.

Heavenly Ski Resort reported this morning that 13 inches of snow fell over the last 24 hours. I got about a quarter inch of precipitation over the last 24 hours in Genoa.

There’s what might be described as a dusting of snow in Genoa, but nothing much and it appears to be going fast. We may see more snow showers before 11 a.m. then scattered rain and snow showers. Expect a west wind of 10-15 mph today with a high temperature of 47 degrees.
