Unemployment jumped to 6.6 percent in January in Douglas County, according to numbers released by the state on Tuesday. More people had jobs, but there were more on the unemployment rolls compared to December.
A race may have developed for the East Fork Swimming Pool Board when Gardnerville resident Douglas Robbins filed on Tuesday. That brings the number of candidates to four, including incumbents Kimberly Borgzinner and Mike Hardie, and newcomer Frank Dressel. No one has filed for Cindy Trigg's Area 3 school board seat. Trigg has her 12 years in and is term-limited out.
Today will be relatively sunny and warm, with the high temperature of 62 degrees, and a calm wind picking up out of the east at 5 mph in the afternoon.
