A Carson Valley man who talked two juveniles into stealing a weapon from a rival gang member is scheduled to appear for sentencing this morning in Douglas County District Court. Robert Fordin, 20, admitted back in June to one count of being a principal to burglary. Both sides agreed to recommend that he receive probation. Fordin was permitted to participate in a six-month drug program run by the Salvation Army.

county budget meeting today

Douglas County commissioners meet 3 p.m. today at the Carson Valley Inn for their quarterly budget workshop. They’ll spend an hour on the strategic plan and another hour on priority based budgeting. Then there’s a big budget gala at 6 p.m.

Sunny skies again

The forecast for today is for mostly sunny skies with a high temperature of 65 degrees. It’s just going to get hotter through the week with a high temperature at 74 degrees by Thursday. That’s not enough to break the record of 80 degrees set in 2007, but it’s getting warm.
