The R-C Morning Report for June 9
Genoa, Nev. — It’s two-for-one night at the Carson Valley Days carnival in Lampe Park. The carnival opens at 5 p.m. with tickets $26 for two people. The discount wristbands aren’t good until Friday night.
For those interested in less whirly pursuits, the Douglas County Historical Society lecture series will be taking attendees on a ride through the history of lumber baron Duane L. Bliss. Though I hear the log flumes were the roller coasters of their day. The lecture starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center.
We’ve got two afternoons worth of critical fire danger starting today at 1 p.m. and then again on Friday at noon. Be careful with fire in the wilderness, or just around town for that matter.
The Weather Service is forecasting a high temperature of 83 degrees today with southwest winds 15-25 mph gusting to 35 mph in the afternoon. It’s going to dry right up, so maybe give plants an extra drink this morning.
