The R-C Morning Report for June 8
Genoa, Nev. — More than a dozen members of the Douglas County Search and Rescue turned out at the Gardnerville Town Board to ask that the board name the K-9 Corral after dog handler and 30-year volunteer Anne E. Thomas, who recently died. Town Board members were enthusiastic, but said there were some things they had to figure out before they started naming parks after people.
Gardnerville Town Board members approved buying a slice of land on the east side of Gilman Avenue for $275,000. A church is planned for across the street on a five-acre parcel adjoining Heritage Park.
I think Tuesday was our peak temperature for the week with 92 degrees in the Gardnerville Ranchos. We didn’t come close to the record high, so there’s that. It will be not quite as warm but very breezy this afternoon. Expect the high to hit 88 degrees.
